Barbacoa Opens

A new restaurant opened in south Fargo this month, and it’s introducing classic southwestern flavors to our frozen midwestern community. Barbacoa offers unique Tex-Mex and South American inspired cuisine you won’t find at any other restaurant in the area. Located on the corner of 32nd Avenue and 42nd Street South, the owners are hoping Barbacoa will be a big hit.

“Barbacoa is a one-of-a-kind restaurant in the Fargo/Moorhead area – blending the best of southwest, Tex-Mex, and Texas BBQ cuisine with signature dishes from throughout Central and South America. We boast a craft cocktail list that complements the food style, as well as a wine list made up of entirely Spanish and South American wines, many of which are not available anywhere else in the state,” said Dan Hurder, owner of Barbacoa.

In addition to Barbacoa, Hurder also owns popular downtown Fargo eateries Monte’s and The Boiler Room. After successfully working with Absolute Marketing Group to build The Boiler Room brand from the ground up, Hurder trusted Absolute to do the same with Barbacoa. Absolute helped develop a logo and other branding elements to give Barbacoa a fiery southern look that represents what they have to offer. Absolute also created their website, barbacoafargo.com.

“Barbacoa is the third restaurant property for our group and we have worked with Absolute on each of them. Absolute has been involved with many aspects of our project including menu layout, advertisement design and media buying. They keep us involved in an array of unique marketing opportunities throughout the city,” Hurder said. “We keep coming back with new restaurant projects, so Absolute must be doing something right for us!”
