Since opening this summer in Downtown Fargo, The Boiler Room has been a tremendous success. Featuring a comfortable, laid back atmosphere, The Boiler Room has a unique vibe with affordable prices that can’t be found anywhere else in the downtown area.
Last year, owner Dan Hurder came to Absolute looking for fresh ideas to market his idea of The Boiler Room. After several brain jam sessions with the owners and Absolute’s creative team, we helped Hurder figure out his plan to create buzz in the community. With the campaign determined, we also assisted in designing several creative deliverables including the logo, menus, website and other collateral pieces.
Hurder and his business partner, Christian Dagostino, opened The Boiler Room June 17th, 2014. The pair first worked together at the Hilton Garden Inn where Hurder was a General Manager and Dagostino was the Executive Chef. Together, they came to Monte’s Downtown in 2012, and opened The Boiler Room this year.
The idea for The Boiler Room originated from the thought that downtown needed more places to eat in a mid-price range. “There were several fine dining options and lots of bar options, but nothing with a comfortable, casual vibe to grab a great drink or an interesting menu item at a regular price,” said Hurder.
After striking out on ideas to name the new space, Hurder and Dagostino decided to ask the community for ideas on Facebook, with a $500 gift card to be given to the person who provided the winning name. The contest generated 450 ideas, from which The Boiler Room was chosen.
The Boiler Room is unique because they offer quality food at a decent price in Downtown Fargo, “We have an amazing team put together that genuinely cares about their customers and the products that we put out. Without them it would be a very different restaurant!” Hurder said.
When asked about their biggest accomplishment in business to date, Hurder said that The Boiler Room takes the title, “It was our first time creating a concept from scratch and it really opened our eyes to the importance of working with a great team and having a great strategy.”
What can everyone expect in the future from the two business partners? “We would love to continue to explore opportunities to create new concepts, or to potentially expand on the concepts we already own and operate. We don’t have any projects in the works, but are always considering new ideas.”
